Weekly Update 3/26/23

At this point, I think I'm going to try and have the weekly blogs be a Sunday thing rather than a Saturday thing. There's been so many blogs I've pushed to Sunday anyways due to a busy Saturday. Plus, this would make it easier to include Game N' Chill videos into them since I can just upload the video Saturday per usual and include it in Sunday's blog while it's still fresh. So let's give that a shot. As for everything else going on...
Streams and videos...
Talking a bit about video and stream plan for April, Youtube uploads aren't going to be that different. Most drastic change is that Game N Chill is going to be a bit late since I want to save April 1st for something special, and the following week I want to get an extra Pokemon XG video out before it gets too outdated with the rest of the playthrough. Plus the commentary does double as a loose Game N Chill so I don't feel as bad about waiting so long to make and release said Game N Chill.
As for streaming, still holding the original plan of having Saturday be the unofficial streaming day. Though there have been days I've just haven't felt up to streaming so I haven't been as consistent as I think people were hoping for. I've noticed lately that I haven't been as confident with speaking live as I used to be and I'm concern that it affects the quality of my stream and my enjoyment of them. Last night's stream went pretty good though, that was a nice confidence boost. Granted I'm not sure how much of it was me getting better and how much was just it being a more quite stream...from chat, definitely not a quite chill stream commentary wise. xD But hey we take that.
Seriously though, why is Kirby Dreamland 2 so brutal? It's Kirby. The shock isn't that it's hard per say, as much as just how much more aggressive the enemies, and game as a whole feel compared to any other Kirby game I've played. I did enjoy the stream, but I definitely needed to stop when I did that is definitely a game best enjoyed in small spurts.
As for what I plan to stream, that may be a little weird this month. I just started a new 1st Thru series but will be doing a completely different one-off stream next week, with the hope of resuming the 1st Thru stream the following week. But hopefully we can have just have fun regardless.
I haven't finished every video for the month, quite yet. But this is everything I got scheduled so far and it would be safe to assume that the following two weeks will look similar to the first half of the month.

Modding/Game Creation
With Dawn of Djinn Second Mix, I'm up to Imil. Which I was going to just breeze through just to make save points for playtesting against the bosses... but then I saw that Mia's dialogue somehow got messed up, swapping what she said with what the old man she talked to said. In hindsight I should have recorded it because it was funny. But I ended up fixing it before I could put aside the time to record it. Now, I'm just messing around with all the dialogue in Imil and Mercury Lighthouse instead. I was gonna have to change things in Mercury Lighthouse anyways, (if you played Verison 1 you know why), so why not take my time.
I was only rushing because I was really looking forward to finishing this part of the mod as it was a milestone for the project for me. But I might have to go back to previous areas to refine and tweak things anyways so I might as well take a little longer.
Still no new progress with Sweet Expedition yet. The original plan was to pull out the N64 and do a playthrough of my current build of the mod on that. Catching two birds with one ball via seeing if there's noticeable console exclusive crashes while refreshing myself on my current progress. That was the plan, but I didn't get a chance to do that yesterday with how busy yesterday was and I'm not sure yet if I'll get the time to play it today. I did also get some ideas over the weekend of things I want to tweak, even without getting around to play testing.
Thing is I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to jump back into Paper Mario modding yet. Still a little overwhelmed, if not burnt out, and I've been really passionate about making progress on Dawn of Djinn. So I wouldn't say I'm back into it yet, but I'm getting there.
There were some recent developments in the Paper Mario modding community that are real huge and exciting. Not sure if I'll be able to take advantage of any of that currently with how easily programming terminology goes over my head. However, from what I was able to grasp, decom has been completed for Paper Mario. Basically, making it possible to code completely in the simpler C, compared to the past where certain parts of Paper Mario's code was exclusive to the more complex Assembly. So in layman's terms, Paper Mario modding is even more accessible than ever.
I still trying to wrap my head how that works with the way I currently make code for Paper Mario, but I'm sure once I do it'll make things way more accessible for me. It's just a matter if I'll ever be smart enough to understand it or patient enough to learn or bold enough to get out of my comfort zone. Even if I can't take advantage of it, I'm already starting to some of the ways others can and it's resulting in some really neat things being shown in the community.

As I'm writing this, I've been watching the Pokémon Go Regional tournament in the background, and that's been fun. Highly recommend checking out at least one of the official tournaments even if you have no interest in Pokemon Go. It's such a different beast from the main series, resulting in a completely different pool of Pokémon making up it's meta from the main series game. Fun stuff.
Minus some Pokemon cards and charity streams I watched, nothing too crazy to talk about this week. As much as I want to share an update on my collection, this blog has got pretty long as is so I'm not feeling up to making a video of that for now. Maybe one day.
Oh, yeah. I had a pretty lucky outing with Pokémon Go yesterday. I just went on a simple walk down a local walkway and got into the Team Rocket Event going on while buying sweets to crave the major cookie craving I've had for weeks now. In the process did I not only do my first legendary raid since Hoenn Tour, but also got my hands on two new Shiny Pokémon, including my first new Shiny Shadow Pokémon just shy of a year. It was one of the more fun outings I had on a walk in a while, despite the slight rain.

I think that's all I have to share for this week, so take care and see you all next week.
