Golden Sun Dawn of Djinn Version 2.0.2 Update

Making a quick blog to let you all know there's a new Dawn of Djinn update.  No major content and depending on your playstyle you may not even notice the changes. But the Linn Spear line didn't behave the way it was supposed to and that was just major enough of an update for me to want to fix and upload now, rather than waiting until I've had a more major updated lined up to share.

---VERSION 2.0.2--

  • -Fixed the Linn Spear Psynergy line (Specifically the final two)

  • -Fix the item drop of Skelton. Previously dropped bones, now drops Clarity Clovers

  • -Updated Brutal Charm patch so that the item can't be dropped.

Like always, you can find the latest release of Dawn of Djinn on Github:

So here's the thing. When Version 2 broke, (see previous blogs), and I had to go to a previous backup I had to reapply the majority of my version 2 updates, making it very easy for me to miss reapplying adjustments I made later on in development.  I already caught and corrected so many issues like this throughout development, but there were so many specific small details I could have miss that it was kind of inevitable that some of them would pass me. That's at least the abridge reason these changes were missed in the initial release.

Since it was brought up on the Discord, I might as well bring it up now.

If an enemy gives you the ability to attack twice the following turn, odds are that was an intentional decision. Fiery Dash line in particular is infamous for this. Giving the target double turns was a way to loosely balance out it's high attack power.  Still, if something feels off regarding moves or enemies, feel free to let me know.  I doubt this is the last of the little things I overlooked because of that big mid-development redo, so better safe than sorry.  Even if it was intentional, that sort of feedback is useful for rebalancing as well.

I would have much prefer that it did recoil damage, but that feature doesn't exist in Golden Sun 1 so I thought "retaliation" would be the next best way to make it interesting.  Still, worth keeping in mind in case I ever do make a Lost Age sequel mod to Dawn of Djinn.

Also I did technically also make the Brutal Charm able to be bought if sold/dropped. But I decided to still keep the non droppable lock on it for now, as I'm unsure which would be the more desirable approach. Yes, inventory is limited in Golden Sun, but if you went through the trouble of applying the brutal charm add-on patch in the first place, then surely you wouldn't be planning on getting rid of the item anyways.  But feel free to chip in if you disagree. If there's enough player interest in being able to sell and rebuy the item, I'll considering removing the lock.
