Weekly Blog 7/31/23

Hey everyone, quick good news and bad news.

The bad news, I think I've about had it with Twitter. I private my account once I realized that my data on the site was being used for things that I didn't want it to be used for, and I'm not sure if I want to keep using it. For now I think I'm going to take a break, like a day or two away from it and see how I feel from there. Not sure what social media platform I'd focus on instead. I do have Instagram and Tumblr accounts and there's already a separate blog exclusively for videos/streams... but they don't quite have the same reach. There's also Hive, but I know no one here seriously uses Hive so I don't take it too seriously (despite how good of an interface it has).

For now, Youtube will probably be my main platform via the community tab, but you can also reach me through Discord or keep up with things through these blogs in general. TBH I wouldn't be shocked if I decide to go back to the site after my little break, but I figured I bring this all up now just in case.

Good news, as of right now I've finished all the main uploads I have planned for the month of September, and you can see more about it in the video section.

Videos/streams

Been keeping myself pretty busy this week/weekend recording, editing and processing the last of videos I need for the month. Game N Chill is ready to go for this weekend, though a disclaimer, it's going to be a very short Game N Chill this month as the inital plan was to record a separate video tying to Pikmin 4 instead of talking about it within the actual Game N Chill. That said, I was feeling off that day so I never actually recorded that Pikmin 4 video. I may still go in and record it later, but I don't want to promise anything until I actually sit down and record it.

Did do a stream last Saturday, resuming my Golden Sun The Lost Age Randomizer and I was looking forward to streaming again next Saturday, but I realized that my stream time is the same time as a family event so I probably won't be able to stream then. Not 100% sure if I'm going or if I'll figure out another time to stream, but probably not. If I do manage to find a good moment to stream this week, I'll be sure to update you all on Discord. Plus if you're subscribed to me on Youtube you should see the stream queued up on your feed when/if I pick out a good day to stream.

A bit of a shame, because I want to mess around with more Pikmin on stream eventually, either playing more of Pikmin 2 or messing around with Pikmin 4, but I got to figure out a good time to do so. Plus I'm still slowly working my way through the Lost Age, so I also want to keep doing that on stream as well. I guess I'll just see what I feel up to streaming the next time I'm able to stream.

Here's the schedule for this month, everything is already queued minus maybe that Pikmin video that I may or may not actually do.

Dawn of Djinn

Progress has been made, but nothing new to report sadly. I am finishing up the dialogue changes in Kalay but got too caught up in things to actually record anything to share.

For those who played the demo I released of V2 even a little you can probably predict one of the reasons I had to tailor dialogue specifically for Dawn of Djinn. But I am experimenting with the tour group scene to make it more bearable. I can't really remove dialogue boxes, but I can rewrite that dialogue to try and feel shorter by reducing redundant information. Similar to what I attempted with the Mercury Lighthouse as I was rewriting that dialogue to fit the changes Dawn of Djinn makes to the base game. Again, no promises I'll do this sort of thing with every scene (Babi alone will assure that) but I might as well do it when I'm feeling motivated enough to attempt it.

I'll record a clip of that boat scene eventually so you can see what I mean. As for everything else, you'll have to wait for the full release to see. This portion of the game is going to have some fun twists, assuming all goes well.

Etc

Been a busy weekend and while I had today off, most of it was going to the doctors, taking care of medical stuff, vaious adulting things, and between that and videos I haven't had too much time to relax or just casually play a game this weekend sadly.

I have been spending a lot of my pre-weekend time playing Pikmin 4, enough to reach the credits. But I'll save those thoughts for the video I want to do on it. In fact, since I've been struggling to commentate this weekend, maybe I'll just do a casually written review and post that as a blog here early. Then I can just use that review as a script once I'm ready to actually record it. I'm going to cut off the blog here so I can possibly go do that. So take care.
