Weekly Blog 6/4/23

Despite the extra time off, it's been a bit chill of a weekend. Think stress and tiredness got in the way of getting as much done as I'd like this week, but I've come up with a couple new talking points at the very least...

Dawn of Djinn

I may or may not have released a demo patch of Dawn of Djinn Second Mix a couple days ago; via Discord. So if you're interested in trying that out, check out the Dawn of Djinn channel on my Discord. I do plan to release it more publicly, but I think it might be more fitting to wait until the Dawn of Djinn playthrough finishes. That's not too far though, like just like a week or so. So stay tuned to next week's blog and I'll talk more about it then.

I'd link the Discord, but I've made some minor text updates since releasing that patch so I might as well make a new demo patch with those updates first. If you can't wait though, you know where to find my Discord if you've managed to find this blog.

With that major milestone out of the way, now it's just a matter of pressing forward towards completing the rest of Dawn of Djinn. The point I left the demo off on I feel was around a little inbetween a third of the way through and the halfway point. Considering a good chunk of the time was spent making the new classes and party member changes, hopefully that means I'm more than halfway done. I'm expecting this backhalf will go quicker than the front half, but that'll depend on how many new text changes I make along the way I suppose.

Videos and Stream

Most of the major announcements I had for the month have already been gone over in last week's blog. So you can revisit the Youtube calendar for a refresher.

The Pikmin 1 stream series will likely finish up in a couple weeks. I would say next weekend, but TBH yesterday's stream didn't go so late so I decided to stop playing early. We made a little progress, but not a lot. You may have noticed that the VOD is currently missing. Stuff was going on in the background and I'm not sure how much of it got picked up by the mic, so I took down the VOD on Twitch and Youtube until I get a chance to review it and assure that's all good. I'll make the VOD public on Youtube once I do, but it's honestly not a huge priority to do that overview at the moment.

Especially since Game N Chill is next week and I just recorded that video yesterday and am currently working on editing down that recording session into Saturday's video. Luckly the Game N Chill recording session went way better than the stream, so that should make for a fun video once it's released. Not too much to report beyond that though.

Mis

Been spending a lot more time surprise trading in Pokemon Scarlet than I expected. They recently released the update for Pokemon Home that lets you transfer to the newest Pokemon games, so I decided to jump in on the bandwangon and use suprise trade as an excuse to clear out some of my access shiny Pokemon that I've transferred from Go over years of Pokemon Go Community Days. Even took several hours to finally organize some of my Pokemon Go storage as a whole. If you got a random shiny with origins from Pokemon Go, you're welcome. Also decided to take advantage of the fact Roaming Form is Go exclusive to hopefully help out some Scarlet and Violet fans get that exclusive form as well.

It was a good filler activity as I watched some (including the majority of Day 2) of the 2023 Milwakee Regionals for Pokemon Go. Despite all the negative things going on in the game and it's community. I still have a softspot specifically for these Go Championship Touraments. Don't really consider myself a competitive player in any Pokemon game anymore but I do have some interest in watching competitive Go from time to time because of how distinct it is from main series Pokemon. some of the closest you'll get to "real-time" Pokémon battles, and the weirdness of the CP limit shakes up the meta in ways main Pokémon could only dream of. Rarely see a legendary Pokemon beyond Registeel and you get stuff like Lanturn and Medichan as the "generic" picks of the meta.
